Join us at the Arboretum to explore the basics of oil painting. Under the coaching of Ron Pettie, you will learn skill building exercises, watch demos, and develop your individual artistic expression while completing 2-3 paintings. All materials are provided, including Acrylic and Oil H20 (non-toxic and water soluble).
This is a Saturday morning class from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM. This class is an 8 week session. Please be aware that tickets reflect the first day of class, but registration price covers the full 8-week session.

Included with registration, you will receive:
- All class materials
- Skill-building exercises
- Coaching to develop individual artistic expression
- The paint used is water soluble oil and acrylic. All materials are non-toxic.
Online registration is required. Registration includes admission to the Arboretum. You are welcome to stay after the class and enjoy the garden. Please visit our website for opening hours. Participants must be ages 12 and up. For minors in attendance, they must be accompanied by a participating adult who is also registered for the class.
Members receive a discount on Arboretum oil painting sessions. Please make sure you are signed into your Arboretum member account to receive the discount. Click "My Account" in upper right-hand corner of page to log-in to your member account, or to create an account.
Cancellation & Refund Policy:
Cancellations must be requested in advance of one week prior to the program start date in order to qualify for a refund. Cancellations requested within 7 days of the class start date will not qualify for a refund. The Arboretum does not offer credit or reschedules for missed classes. If you are unable to cancel within the required refund window, please consider your program fee a donation to the garden. Your registration confirms your understanding of and agreement with this policy.
