What do bones, skulls, and marigolds have in common? They are all symbols associated with the Day of the Dead! Art, culture, and nature collide in this fun and dynamic workshop where guests will paint their faces into sugar skulls with the instruction of an artist, dissect owl pellets and discover what bones lie within them, and examine some of the skeletal remains of animals that have perished at the Arboretum, all while enjoying an adult beverage and some pan dulce. We will discuss the science and symbolism of owls, explore the botanic and cultural significance of marigolds, and examine different bony specimens under microscopes. Join us for this unique experience that promises to be a fun, creative, and slightly nerdy time!
